Hello! My name is Emerald, it’s nice to meet you virtually.
As your therapist, it is my priority to hold space, non-judgmentally for you and your story. Our sessions will be built on mutual respect, understanding, and curiosity. I will follow your pace, listen to your feedback, and provide guidance where needed.
My Philosophy
In society, talking about sex is still seen as taboo. But why? I strongly believe it shouldn't be, simply because it's human to crave intimacy, sex, and everything involved. Perhaps you're struggling with maintaining a "spicy" connection with a partner, looking for a relationship, or experiencing difficulty navigating life.
I understand that in BIPOC communities, sex is taboo and off-limits to talk about even when we need help. I pull from personal and professional experience to treat relationship incompatibility, sexual issues, and trauma, particularly in minority communities. I provide therapy services to individuals and couples looking to improve themselves and thrive.
Why Sex Therapy?
Of all the specialties to choose from, I find sex therapy to be the most intriguing. Being human allows us to explore our sexuality in ways that feel most authentic to us. All while connecting with others in a vulnerable, yet pleasurable manner. Sex is sometimes described as an art form - a form of self-expression with an intimate audience. Depending on our life story, it might be hard to perform in front of an audience, even if that audience is just you. Sex therapy can help alleviate shame that is attached to being a sexual being and it can also help you connect with your partner(s). I find great purpose in helping my clients rekindle their connection with their person and building a safe relationship with their body. It is an honor to sit with clients and hold space for their stories, as they discover what sex means to them.
My Approach
In my perspective, you are the expert of your life, not me. This doesn’t mean that you don’t need support. To elaborate, in my therapy approach I will follow your lead in terms of goals you want to achieve, what works and what doesn’t, and help you identify what you’re feeling. I will provide guidance when navigating your relationship with yourself and others, particularly with communication, sex, trauma, and incompatibility. With your feedback and effort toward change, we can navigate these issues together.
